The GCDYC was originally located directly across the lake from it's present location at North Marina as seen in the above photo. In 1968, the North Marina was allocated for materials staging and penstock fabrication during the construction of the third powerhouse. The old barge that had served as a clubhouse was burned, and the GCDYC docks at North Marina were removed. The GCDYC moved its clubroom to a spacious suite at the Coulee Dam City Hall in the 1960's. For a number of years the GCDYC did not have any waterfront facilities. The club did, however, operate the Spring Canyon concession for a few years starting in the late 1960s as a way to raise money for the organization. The GCDYC established docking facilities at Eden Harbor, not far from the town of Grand Coulee, in 1981, under a Park Service special use permit.
The GCDYC was started in 1939 by a small group of USBR employees during dam construction. The club was named in March 1940 and chartered in Oct. 1940. In the early 70's the construction of the 3rd Powerhouse forced the GCDYC to find a new home. The GCDYC purchased property at Eden Harbor in the 70's.  Later the existing docks were built. Eden Harbor may be the best protected harbor on lower Lake Roosevelt.
Today, the GCDYC is the only  yacht club on the lake with it's own docks. The GCDYC has over 80 members from WA, ID, OR. and British Columbia, Canada. The Grand Coulee Dam Yacht Club is one of the oldest Non Profit Boating Organizations in the eastern half of Washington State. As a Community access point for the Park Service, the GCDYC has been and will continue to be a local resource for the boating public.
